Giro d'Italia Stage 6 key numbers: Glory for Masnada

Fausto Masnada (Androni Giocattoli - Sidermec) took the victory on Stage 6 of the 2019 Giro d’Italia in San Giovanni Rotondo, with Valerio Conti (UAE-Team Emirates) following him across the line and into the pink jersey.

José Joaquín Rojas (Movistar Team) won the race to the line for third in a chasing group just over 30 seconds behind the front two. A large breakaway had formed early in the day and it split in the latter part of the stage, with the GC given a real shake up as the peloton reached the finish over seven minutes after Masnada and Conti had crossed the line.

The top five in the GC now reads as follows:

1 Valerio Conti (UAE Team Emirates) 25:22:00

2 Giovanni Carboni (Bardiani CSF) 1’41”

3 Nans Peters (AG2R La Mondiale) 2’09”

4 José Rojas (Movistar Team) 2’12”

5 Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ) 2’19”
