Vuelta a España 2019: Jesús Herrada triumphs on stage six

Stage 6 of the Vuelta a España 2019 was won by Jesús Herrada (Cofidis, Solutions Crédits) as the Spanish rider beat Dylan Teuns (Bahrain Merida) to the line by seven seconds after 198.9km of racing and a hard final climb to Puerto de Ares.

Dorian Godon (AG2R La Mondiale) got third by just outpacing Robert Gesink (Team Jumbo-Visma) to the finish, with Bruno Armirail (Groupama - FDJ) in fifth. It has been a great couple of days for Cofidis and the Herrada family after José Herrada - brother of Jesús - finished third on Stage 5.

A big crash mid stage unfortunately saw EF Education First's GC hope Rigoberto Urán, his teammate Hugh Carthy, Nicolas Roche (Team Sunweb) and Victor de la Parte (CCC Team) all forced to abandon the race. Roche had led the race until Wednesday.

Teuns now leads the GC after six days of racing by 38 seconds from David de la Cruz (Team INEOS), with Miguel Ángel López (Astana Pro Team) in third place, 60 seconds adrift of the race leader.
