Team Jumbo-Visma’s Mike Teunissen won stage one of the 2019 Tour de France by beating Peter Sagan in a photo finish in Brussels.
The Dutch rider only contested the sprint after his team leader, Dylan Groenewegen, fell in a crash inside the last 2km.
Sagan led out the sprint and looked set to hold on for victory, but Teunissen overhauled him in the final metres and will now wear the yellow jersey on Sunday’s second stage. Caleb Ewan (Lotto Soudal) finished third.
