Julian Alaphilippe produced a superb solo attack to win stage three of the Tour de France and take the race lead.
The Deceuninck - Quick-Step accelerated out of the peloton on the last of four back-to-back late climbs and hung on to win by 26 seconds from runner-up Michael Matthews (Team Sunweb) and third-placed Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo).
With previous race leader Mike Teunissen (Team Jumbo-Visma) having earlier been dropped, Alaphilippe moves to the top of the general classification and opens up leads of 20 seconds on second-placed Wout Van Aert and 25 seconds on third-placed Steven Kruijswijk, both from Team Jumbo-Visma.
