Tour de France 2019: Stage 13 TT won by Alaphilippe

A tremendous ride by Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck - Quick Step) on Friday in Pau saw him win the Stage 13 time trial and therefore extend his lead in the general classification at the 2019 Tour de France.

The last man down the ramp, Alaphilippe was given loud and passionate support by the local fans as he flew around the 27km TT course. He worked hard right to the last metre to beat Geraint Thomas of Team INEOS into second place by 14 seconds with a stunning 35’00” time. Alaphilippe therefore now leads the GC by 1’26”.

Thomas De Gendt (Lotto-Soudal) produced a great ride and provisionally sat in first position with a solid 35’36” time, but he ultimately had to settle for third place as the top two men in the GC jumped above him in the TT.
