WHOOP, the human performance company, today announced a partnership with Velon which will launch at the Giro d’Italia.
Velon takes fans inside the world’s best professional cycling teams through the use of in-race data and footage incorporated into both digital and live TV coverage. As the Official Data Partner of Velon, WHOOP will deliver new heart rate information throughout the Giro on top of Velon’s speed, power, cadence, and normal rider data.
Velon partner teams, including EF Education-EasyPost, will give cycling fans a new view of personalised biometrics over the course of the three-week Grand Tour, through the analysis of the live data before, during, and after each stage.
“Velon is a world-class organisation supporting cycling’s best teams,” said Christian Voigt, WHOOP SVP of Strategic Partnerships. “Together, Velon, WHOOP and its technical supplier North Pole Engineering will combine their technology solutions to deliver more comprehensive data-driven insights for fans, riders, and coaches alike starting at the upcoming Giro d’Italia.”
"Velon pioneered live race data in cycling and we’re delighted to be working with a partner who’s made such an impact in sports data analysis,” said Velon CEO Graham Bartlett. “WHOOP brings real insights to performance data and we’re really excited to show our sport to the world with WHOOP in new ways."
