Breakaway rider Alexey Lutsenko climbed to a solo victory on Stage 6 of the Tour de France, as all of the overall favourites rolled home together.
Lutsenko (Astana Pro Team) was part of an eight-man escape also containing Greg Van Avermaet (CCC Team) and Nicholas Roche (Team Sunweb).
The Kazakh rider pulled clear on the day’s final ascent, the Col de la Lusette, and hung on to beat Jesus Herrada into second place by 55 seconds.
Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) snatched a second on his GC rivals at the finish, but otherwise the overall standings were unchanged, meaning Adam Yates (Mitchelton-SCOTT) retained the overall lead.
