Soren Kragh Andersen continued Team Sunweb’s recent run of form by winning Stage 14 of the 2020 Tour de France.
The Danish rider went on the attack with 3km to go and pressed home his advantage as his rivals marked each other out behind.
Andersen crossed the line with a 15-second winning margin and the victory was Team Sunweb’s second stage success in the space of three days after Marc Hischi solo’d to victory on Thursday.
Luka Mezgec (Mitchelton-SCOTT) won the sprint for second place in a vastly reduced peloton ahead of Simone Consonni (Cofidis).
Peter Sagan (BORA-hansgrohe) finished the day in fourth to claw back some time on Sam Bennett (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) at the top of the points classification, while Primoz Roglic (Team Jumbo-Visma) retained his second lead over Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) at the top of the overall standings.
After the stage Andersen said: “I dreamt about this moment but it’s always hard to say you’re good enough before you’ve done it. I’m amazed and full of emotions, it’s crazy.
“I had really good legs the whole day but you never know how good the other guys are. When the moment came I was went for it and Marc’s victory [on Stage 12] gave the whole of our team motivation. We didn’t expect the Tour to go this well as we have a young team, but we’re performing and all super happy.”
