Vincenzo Nibali headlines a strong field as the Italian one-day racing season continues on Wednesday, August 12, with the hilly Gran Piemonte.
Containing no fewer than 13 categorised climbs – including one to the finish line – this year’s 187km parcours is the perfect warm-up for Sunday’s Il Lombardia, which is the second of the season’s five ‘Monuments’.
It should be an exciting and explosive spectacle, and you can follow every pedal stroke of the action with Velon’s new and improved Race Centre.
As well plotting their position in the race, you can see riders’ speed, power and cadence data, and our pioneering Red Zone technology will tell you who has and hasn’t been riding above a sustainable effort, so you’ll be able to work out who is likely to burn out and who could come on strong at the end of the race.
The Spotlight area enables you to select up to 10 riders and compare their live data side by side. So, if a handful of riders are on the attack on the decisive climbs, you’ll be able to see who’s on the limit and who has something in reserve.
Finally, we’ve introduced a new Moments section, which will bring you not just race updates, but also analytical snippets such as which rider has produced the highest power in the race so far and who has hit the highest speed.
The Race Centre is available free of charge and is fully optimised to whichever device you choose to view it on. And if English isn’t your first language, don’t worry, you can find it in other languages by clicking on these links:
The Race Centre will also be available later in the season at the following races:
- Saturday, August 15: Il Lombardia
- September 7-14: Tirreno-Adriatico
- October 3-25: Giro d’Italia
- October 11: Gent-Wevelgem
